We are looking for a hands-on and entrepreneurial Technology Manager to join our growing team at the Public Value Academy. Our mission is to support founders in scaling the social and environmental impact of their business models. As we venture into developing new software solutions for the first time, we need a versatile tech generalist who can take ownership, lead external collaborators, and dive into code and troubleshooting when needed.

As our Technology Manager, you will:

• Lead the end-to-end development of our software tools and database for measuring and managing startup impact
• Translate business goals into a clear, actionable technical roadmap
• Define system architecture and technical requirements in collaboration with the project leadership
• Select, manage, and coordinate external development partners and freelancers
• Ensure quality assurance through testing, feedback cycles, and iterative releases
• Provide hands-on support in debugging and feature development when needed
• Maintain and evolve our internal software infrastructure, including our Learning Management System (LMS)
• Support onboarding, training, and issue resolution for users and team members

We’re seeking a practical thinker and doer with:

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in software development (backend, frontend, or full-stack)
•  1+ year experience managing technical projects or teams
• Strong understanding of agile development methodologies (Scrum, Lean, etc.)
• Experience working with or in startups, ideally in social impact or tech-for-good environments
• Ability to manage vendors and freelancers effectively
• A hands-on mentality: you enjoy solving problems and jumping into the code when needed
• Excellent communication skills in English (B2 level or higher)
• EU work permit, located in Germany
