To support this focus area, Amazon isseeking a number of Machinery Safety Compliance Engineers to jointhe High-Risk Operations team. The individuals will play a criticalrole to ensure high standards of safety are built into systems andprocesses across new and legacy Fulfilment Centres, Sort Centresand Delivery Stations across Europe. The successful candidates willconduct equipment inspections against a pre-determined set ofcriteria to identify if improvements are required to increase thelevel of safety. The role will require technical knowledge of EUmachinery safety standards, in PUWER/UWED applications andregulations to meet all European country requirements. Emphasiswill be on sound safety engineering principles, basic machineryknowledge and the ability to engage with cross functional teams,transforming this knowledge into sound, compliant processes for theEU network. Location: Mix of on-site and office working. The rolewill require frequent travel up to approx. 60% - 70% of the time.Key job responsibilities You will be supporting a wide range ofprojects including liaison with other critical support functionssuch as Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering,Procurement, and New Build/Real Estate teams in order toeffectively deliver the required right first-time machinery andsystems safety standards. This is an important safety role and willreport directly to the Safety Engineering Compliance Manager(Europe). The extent of your duties will include: • Support Amazonfacilities by performing suitable and sufficient risk assessmentsof all relevant machinery and equipment, for legacy and new launchsites. • Support the development of solutions that meet Amazon highstandards for safety, risk reduction, customer satisfaction,efficiency, scalable, simplicity, and operational excellence. •Engage and manage the involvement of the inspection team with theprojects, reacting to changes to facilitate the attendance for theinspection. • Complete the lifecycle of inspection by effectivelyreviewing corrective measures and implementing the control in theinspection tool. • Provide functional working links with othercritical functional teams including; Engineering, Reliability andMaintenance Engineering, Procurement, New Build Safety and RealEstate teams. • Manage the intake of request for support andprioritise the process to suit operational requirements whereneeded. Support the delivery of central Health and Safetypro-active objectives. • Provide input to change projects, buildouts and development projects and act as a technical machineryadvisor for the EU WHS team. • Keep tracking data up-to-date forthe inspection program. Plan and arrange own travel applyingfrugality and efficiency of time on sites. GRUNDQUALIFIKATIONEN • ABachelor degree or equivalent level of qualification in line withthe European Qualifications Framework (EQF) - Experience in asimilar role of machinery inspection. - Robotics and MaterialHandling Equipment (MHE) knowledge. - In-depth understanding of theEU Machine Directive 2006/42/EC and its relevant harmonizedstandards. - Comprehension and practical application of riskassessments. - Demonstrable record of managing machinery safetyinspections across large multi-site businesses. - Credibility andbe able to effectively engage and influence other functionalleaders and their teams, to build buy-in to EU Health and Safetystrategies and change processes. - Used to operating at all levelsof the organization from warehouse floor to senior management. -Solid oral and written communication skills. - Proficient in use ofMicrosoft Office and other computer-based tools to support systemengineering and briefing/proposal development activities.BEVORZUGTE QUALIFIKATIONEN • Experience of working for a Notifiedor Approved body for Machinery Safety - Qualified to NEBOSH Diplomalevel or equivalent, preferably gained in a low margin, high volumeenvironment with warehousing and logistics beneficial. - Formaltraining certification in Machinery Safety (such as CMSE) -Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement inan operational environment. - TUV Certified Functional SafetyEngineer. - Experience interacting with cross functional teams andmanaging projects with minimal supervision.
