Job Opportunity: Research and Development Scientist for Medical Device Development

Position: Biosensor & Software Engineer (Medical Devices)

About the Company:

My client is a fast-growing health tech company focused on the development of innovative diabetes diagnostic device. They are well-funded, collaborative, and passionate about solving real-world healthcare problems with advanced engineering solutions.


What They’re Looking For:

We’re seeking an engineer who brings a strong mix of hands-on experience with electrochemical biosensors and the software development skills needed to help integrate these systems into a scalable medical device platform.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and testing of electrochemical biosensing systems.
  • Optimise and maintain a pre-established monitoring device
  • Support assay development and optimize sensor performance.
  • Collaborate on embedded systems design and software integration.
  • Develop and refine algorithms for signal processing and data interpretation.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 standards through rigorous testing and documentation.


Ideal Background:

  • Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or similar field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with biosensors, particularly electrochemical systems.
  • Proficiency in embedded systems and programming (Python, C/C++, MATLAB).
  • Experience in medical device development and familiarity with regulatory processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience within the diabetes CGM space or insulin delivery market


Nice to Have:

  • Background in wearable devices or point-of-care diagnostics
  • Knowledge of machine learning for biosensor data analysis
